HEY!! I’m Hugh and drumming is my livelihood. On a daily basis I go about practicing, teaching, gigging and doing session work. This is my story haha……Upon completing high school 6 years ago, I began playing with a local band “Flicks” and completed a Diploma in Music Performance at the Southbank Institute of Technology. From here I was able to hone my skills and establish myself as a known drummer in the Brisbane Music scene. Flicks were a very productive band organizing School Tours as often as possible. We would play 5-10 schools during the week in any given town (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and further north) and put on an organized concert for the students to come along to on the weekend. We were able to build a devoted following within a year’s time.

While playing in Flicks, we were fortunate enough to catch a break and score tours with several big name bands. We supported Short Stack on a sold out Queensland tour, playing to thousands of kids over 10 Shows.

We also supported Amy Meredith (Gold Selling Aussie Artist) and played several shows with Tonight Alive (before they blew up and went on to tour the world – Completing a full 2012 Warped Tour in the States).

I have been fortunate enough to travel Australia, playing shows at the top of Queensland all along the coast down to Melbourne. When Flicks released our first and only single “Hayley”, it automatically hit tv, radio and got us 20 000 views on youtube over 1 week. We were lucky enough to be invited to play a tour in New Zealand and played a string of shows across both Islands.

After Flicks finished I decided to devote my time to playing as many gigs as possible in a cover band and to start my own teaching studio. I joined my current band “Wasabi” at the end of 2011 and have played more than 100 shows in less than a year….each show is 3 hours drumming….that’s a lot of DRUMMING!

I continue to practice regularly and often put up drum covers on my Youtube site. YEEHAA!
